Helping with the Transit Transition

Movability has been speaking with individual members that purchase CapMetro passes for their employees, and we understand that there has been some confusion as CapMetro switches to its new fare system. We want our members to know that we are communicating your frustrations and are working with CapMetro to help get answers about next steps.

Here are a few questions we've heard and can provide preliminary answers to:

1. What is the process to purchase and distribute passes through CapMetro for Business?

Place your order on the new CapMetro Marketplace website.

Digital Pass Distribution

  • Order Business Commuter/Local Monthly (Umo App Code)
  • Digital passes will be provided as benefit codes for you to send to employees.
  • Instruct employees to download the Umo app and follow the steps below to enter their unique benefit code.
  • Did you have undistributed digital passes in your Bytemark account? CapMetro will be reaching out to provide benefit codes.

Physical Pass Distribution

  • CapMetro now offers Reloadable Fare Cards instead of single-use passes.
  • For your first order, CapMetro will provide the cards for your employees. Be sure to select the Reloadable Fare Card product for each employee who needs a card. Additionally, purchase the Business Commuter/Local Monthly (Reloadable Card Load) pass type.
  • For future orders, these monthly passes can be uploaded to the same cards, no need to reorder new Reloadable Fare Cards. Please keep track of which card number is assigned to each employee so that CapMetro can reload them.
  • Have old 31-day physical passes? Let us know and we will work with you to exchange them for Reloadable Fare Cards with passes loaded on them.

2. Do I have to purchase monthly passes to get the discount?

Yes. Employers must purchase Business Local or Commuter Monthly passes to receive the discount.

3. What is the minimum purchase?

The minimum purchase is 10 monthly passes.

4. Is the discount changing?

The discount is still 10% up to 20%, depending on the size of the purchase.

5. Do businesses still have the ability to reclaim passes?

Not at this time.

6. When should employees download the Umo app?

Employees MUST download the Umo app before their employer can distribute fare value to them. Any fare distributed to unregistered accounts will be lost.

7. How do my employees use their monthly pass?

Employers will receive a set of unique codes to give to their employees to activate their pass.

8. What will CapMetro for Business look like in the long term?

Movability is working with CapMetro for Business to solicit feedback and establish a long-term solution. We are planning to host an online information session with CapMetro that will allow people to ask questions and share feedback. If you would like to be notified when that session is scheduled, please submit your contact information through the button below.

9. When should I expect to receive my transit pass balance as Umo codes?

CapMetro has begun the process of issuing Umo codes that cover any balance held in Bytemark. It may take up to two weeks to finish delivering these codes to CapMetro for Business customers.
