New CapMetro App Launches

CapMetro's new app is now active and lets riders pay per ride instead of paying ahead of time for a daily or monthly pass. The app also features real-time tracking and trip planning.

When riders use the AMP card feature on the app, they can pay as they go instead of paying ahead of time for a daily or monthly pass. Once a rider has spent the equivalent of a daily or monthly pass using AMP, they have automatically met the cap and the rest of their rides are free until the next day or month.

The app is available for download on Android and Apple stores, and riders can also pick up AMP cards for free at CapMetro's Transit Store at 9th and Lavaca Streets. Learn more about using the app here.

CapMetro is also offering discounted fares for people with lower incomes through Equifare. The Equifare program is available to riders whose household income falls below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level - an annual household income of less than $55,000 for a family of four - or who qualify for social services including Medicaid, Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing, and others.
