TxDOT is building an upgraded highway at the intersection of US 290 and SH 71 consisting of 2-to-3 non-stop US 290 mainlanes for through traffic in each direction, as well as 2-to-3 frontage road lanes in each direction. Work includes constructing new overpasses, new flyovers, lowered mainlanes, new intersections, and new shared use paths and sidewalks.Construction is expected to be completed by late 2026.
