We're thrilled to welcome Rafael Sanchez (he/him/his) to the Movability team for the fall and spring semesters! We asked Rafael to share his interests and background in his own words:
"I am a current third-year student at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in public health and urban studies. My usual commute consists of walking and taking the 803/801 express. However, I'm currently attempting to get a bike to make the commute more active.
"During my time at Movability as an intern my interest is in assessing and helping with the inequities many small, minority, LGBTQ-owned businesses around the metro area face. As part of a transportation demand management team, I plan on doing my part in meeting these challenges as well as uplifting the communities these businesses operate in. As I am a public health student, I am also interested in how access, or lack thereof, to certain commuting options can have an impact on not only the overall health of the community but also the quality of life and acquisition to the many opportunities through reliable modes of transportation."
Say hi if you see him in a Zoom meeting or out and about! You can reach Rafael at firstname.lastname@example.org.
